Just been looking at the nominal roll. You have mick Helliwell down as a sapper. He was in fact a craftsman (REME attached.Used to command CSIGN 18). He is living in Mirfield.Spoke to him a couple of months ago.I have his phone number somewhere.Contacted him via forces reunited.)

You also have me down as not contacted?

Hi Steve, have you not asked him about attending the reunion ? I was thinking the other day of ways to contact the Reme, Acc and Sigs attached . These guys certainly integrated iin the Sqn especially  in Ripon I said a few months ago it was one of the disasters of Hohne to see them all sent back to central cookhouses, workshops ect  upon arrival ,at which point we lost the Sqn feeling.

Bob.

It's plain to see that you have been exceptionally busy, updating the "Nominal Roll".   Next time you are updating it, can you please correct the spelling of Johnny Greenhalgh's name. As spelt here.    It's pronounced as ALJ not OFF. Not a lot of people know that.!!! It's a South Yorkshire quirk, apparently. Cheers.

Hi Bob I have searched high and low for details of Jim Lunds accident which lead to his death in NI .I" had"  old sqn magazines which gave full details  here but as usual canot locate them .I know GT will still have his as he was front page on most of them .

The accident happened on night  operations  in Northern Ireland 22 jan 1974 SSgt JW Lund RE  approached the helicopter being used to enter and exit the troops  and was caught in the tail roter, and died as a result of his injuries. RIP

I am sure GT who was a SNCO in the Sqn at the same  time as Jim will remember more or possibly locate Sqn Magazine but at least in the meantime  you can fill in a date and brief details on memory page .

To add to the confusion over this Sgt from Malta I am sure that he was only with us in Osnabruck as REME took over the running of the LAD once 7 SQN went independent. So he was only with us a matter of months.

Taff, nice to hear from you again. Did you check out the photos I put on the Gallery. Theres one of you with Hair!!!!!!! how about that. Just this moment been talking with Johnny Greenhalgh. Hes well on his way to recovery, wont say what the op was about, but at least hes okay. He was saying that he may get in contact with you about going to the next reunion, give him a ring. I have said that you could both stay over at my place one night on the way up, and we could all go up together. What say you.?

For fear of being classed as racist, I decline to comment about the drum messages, I should have been using smaller drums apparently.!!!!

I spoke to Johnny about this Maltese Sgt, and he has no recollection. John was in 7 for a couple of years, so if he didnt know him I cant suggest anyone else to ask. Do you know Taff.?

Keep in touch

Hi guy's.

I'm sorry to say this, but Dave Biram's confidence in my memory is sadly misplaced. I cannot remember any Maltese Sgt while in Shiney 7. While I was there my Troop Sgt was Tom George. Who will be remembered by me for ever, he put me in the Nick at Ripon, for something I did'nt do!!!! But that's another story.

I'll phone Johnny Greenhalgh and ask him, he was in 7 Sqdn a lot longer than I was. I'll get back to you.

Hi Bob tried to look back n the site as we were discussing the Re Sgt  who was from Malta a few months ago.he was a plant fitter so Dave Ravey would know him for sure .I definatly am sure he  was not  called shepard.

Yes Jim Lund needs to be added to the In memory page.i can remember as yesterday Ssgt Griffiths (pronto)  walking into the HQ troop hut in the Maze and telling us about his terrible acccident. I am sure that i have an article from the sqn magazine somewhere or GT will have. If we can find it do you want it Bob to add to the Page.

On the reunion Geordie how are we for rooms ?

A couple of mistakes in the REME lot Les Gower was a Cfn not Capt. Mick Green was a SSgt the first Tiffy posted to the Sqn on our return to Ripon.

Now between Bob Shilling RE and Mick Green I believe there was a Sgt Terry Frazer and  Sgt who came from Malta but I cant remember his name or if he was RE or REME and his name escapes me.

Thanks and well done.!!!!! The clocks working and correct, and now I know how to access the other guy's Profiles. I read earlier that someone had mentioned the Clock. I guess like everyone else, there are only so many things you can do in a day. So many thanks for putting so much time into this Website, I'm really glad that I was pointed in your direction.

It's enjoyable, and very well laid out, once you've cracked how to get to stuff.

Ta very much

I was just wondering how is it possible to access members Profiles. I have so far worked out that if there is a Photo of the Member, you click on the Photo. And if the Members name is underlined, the same applies. Is there no way of accessing the other Members Profiles.?

I was curious to find out what other Members had got up to or where now Living.

Seems that your getting up a real head of steam regarding input to the nominal " Roll". There is a guy I have mentioned acouple of times, Geoff ( YORKY)  Fairburn, or it could be Fairhurst. He is on photo 46 with Ken Massingham, and the unknown officer, trying bto strat the compressor. I think he was in 1 Troop. Anyone remember him.?

Well done Bob i know this has taken you a lot of time even during your holidays , come on now guys lets now  fill in the gaps and get the roll updated with your own personal info and that of guys you remember .it only takes a few mins to look through and then think of anyone missing . If you email Bob he can then update . I have a theory here ,if you found the site and then saw your name was missing how would you feel ??? Much better to come upon it and find you are included . We need this reunion hotel filled .
